The Department of Neurology at UNC

The School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill is consistently rated among the top public academic research medical centers in the United States. The Department of Neurology provides the neurological expertise to support the School’s three-part mission of teaching, research, and patient care. The Department has more than 45 faculty with broad subspecialty representation in epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pediatric neurological disorders, behavioral neurology, and dementia.

UNC is dedicated to teaching and the Department of Neurology is seeking a midlevel/senior, Board Certified neurologist to lead our Neuromuscular Division. 

 

The Neuro Critical Care Division Chief will join an established team of 5 neurocritical care physicians as well as dedicated APPs. UNC Neurology has a robust Neuroscience Clinical Trials Unit in addition to basic neuroscience and imaging research facilities. The program includes a Neurocritical Care fellowship with 2 fellows per year.  The Neurocritical Care Division Chief will serve as the academic leader of the Neurocritical Care division. The Division manages 32 neurosciences ICU beds across two hospitals (UNC Medical Center and UNC Rex in Raleigh) as well as robust training and research programs. 

 

Income Package:  A negotiable income package is offered and is based upon Academic rank and level of Academic experience. UNC offers a superior benefits and retirement program along with relocation and other incentives are also provided.

Position Requirements

 

MD or DO degree, board certified in Neurology and NCC, five plus years of related experience, demonstrative comprehensive understanding of a medical school/hospital environment and the ability to obtain an unrestricted North Carolina state medical board license.
