Mayo Clinic's neurophysiology programs prepare you for an academic career by providing you with experience in teaching, research, and clinical studies. The one-year Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona has two tracks- Electromyography (EMG) and Electroencephalography (EEG).  Each track will prepare you to establish and supervise a neurophysiology laboratory in an academic institution or integrated group practice.

During the EMG track, experience in the clinical evaluation of patients with neuromuscular disorders is also provided during the fellowship. In addition to standard nerve conduction and electromyographic techniques, you will learn about:

  • Single-fiber electromyography
  • Evoked potentials
  • Surgical monitoring

During the EEG track, you will also see and interpret EEGs with a wide variety of other patterns. Training in SISOCOM utilization and brain mapping is also included.  The EEG track includes both didactic and clinical experiences, training you to:

  • Interpret EEGs
  • Supervise prolonged recordings
  • Coordinate special studies
  • Perform surgical monitoring
  • Conduct clinical research
  • Teach other medical trainees

To be eligible for the Clinical Neurophysiology Electromyography Fellowship, you must have successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited residency program in neurology in the United States or Canada. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status. Mayo Clinic provides a competitive stipend and benefits package. You must apply through Recruit, a third-party application service. No matching program services are used.
